Understanding Person Pages
What are Person Pages?
Person pages are dedicated profiles of individuals, involved in various events, such as organizers, lecturers, and therapists. These profiles help to provide detailed information about each person who are related to professional activities.
To aid writing about oneself we have assembled a set of questions:
How Do Person Pages Operate?
As a user, you can create multiple Person pages. This flexibility is useful in scenarios such as:
Hosting an Event: If you are organizing a seminar with a foreign lecturer, you can create a Person page for them to highlight their role.
Co-Hosting a Workshop: If you are co-hosting with a colleague who is not yet in the system, you can create a Person page for them to ensure both of you are properly represented.
Sharing Person Pages
Person pages are shared across all users of the platform. This means:
Reusable Information: Once a Person page is created, it can be used by others organizing events with the same person, saving time and ensuring consistency.
Enhanced Visitor Experience: Visitors can view all events associated with a person through their Person page.
Who Can Edit Person Pages?
Because Person pages are shared, they can be edited by any user. This shared editing capability relies on user responsibility:
Quality Improvement: Others can correct typos or add missing information, improving the overall quality of the content for everybody.
Accountability: Misuse of editing rights can lead to account restrictions or blocking.
Ensuring Uniqueness of Person Pages
To avoid duplicate profiles, the Email field in Person pages is mandatory and must be unique within the system. It means in every language there can be only one profile per person across the platform. This ensures:
Singular Profiles: Each person has one comprehensive profile showcasing all their activities.
Consistency and Accuracy: Users cannot enter an email already used by another Person page in the same language, preventing duplicates.
Rules for Creating/Editing Person Pages
There are several rules regarding when you can or cannot create or edit a Person page:
Creating/Editing Your Profile: You can edit your own Profile, except Email.
Existing User Profiles: If the Person page belongs to an existing user (identified by email) on the platform, you cannot edit it. If their public Profile is available, use that instead for creating events.
Non-Existing Users: If there is no user with that email on the platform, you can create the Person page. However, if someone else publishes a Person page with the same email before you do, you will be restricted from publishing your version. In that case you can improve the page created by the other person.
Your Profile Page
What is a Profile Page?
Your Profile page is a unique Person page associated with your email. It has special characteristics:
Exclusive Ownership: Only you can edit your Profile page.
Fixed Email: The Email field is fixed and cannot be changed.
Deleting Your Profile
Your Profile page cannot be deleted. The delete functionality is disabled in your Dashboard to maintain consistency and prevent loss of important information.
Existing Person Pages and New Users
If a new user joins and their Person page already exists in the system:
Reassignment: These pages will be reassigned to the new user and only they can modify the page.
Transfer of Rights: Previous contributors will lose editing rights to ensure the profile is managed by the rightful owner.
Relationship Between Profile and Organizations
Joining Organizations
Persons can join organizations on the platform, reflecting their membership status. This involves:
Mutual Agreement: Both the person and the organization must agree to the membership.
Professional Representation: The organization's image will be displayed on the Person page, indicating professional affiliation.
Applying for Membership
To apply for organization membership:
Personal Application: Only you can apply using your Profile.
Public Profile: Your Profile must be public to display your membership on the organization’s page, showing all members.
